About Capt. Gil
As a child, Captain Gil Gutierrez (pictured on the right) fished with his dad on party boats out of Haulover. In high school, he worked on those same boats as a mate. He also fished on several boats owned by his dad. This experience helped him hone his basic fishing skills. After graduating high school, he went on to college earning a degree in Liberal Studies, from Florida International University. Upon graduation, he worked for Sysco Foods and focused on tournament fishing. After several years of tournament fishing and faced with changes in the work place, he decided to buy his first charter boat. That boat, a Conch 27, would be the platform that he used to build his business.
As the business grew, he needed a boat that would allow him to fish in a more comfortable manner in less than ideal conditions. In 2008 he was happy to be taken on by SeaVee boats as one of their sponsored captains. He currently fishes from a 2008, 36 foot SeaVee with center console powered by Mercury engines with state of the art electronics and loaded with up to date tackle in perfect condition. Captain Gil has the benefit of being full time fishing guide and commercial live bait supplier; this has, consistently, provided him with the ability to find fish when they are being uncooperative. Take advantage of his countless amount of, “on the water”, time and greatly increase your opportunity to catch that sailfish of a lifetime.
